Kuakini Health System president and CEO Gary K. Kajiwara was presented The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, by Consul General of Japan Koichi Ito on Feb. 1 at the Japanese Consulate. Kajiwara was recognized for his contributions to strengthening and promoting mutual understanding between Japan and the United States in the fields of medicine and healthcare and for advancing the status of Japanese Americans in the United States. He was also recognized for promoting collaborative international research projects and health care-related training programs, including affiliation/partnership agreements with several universities and health care organizations in Japan.
